
Bhubaneswar: Odisha is gaining global attention in yoga with two faculty members of Sri Sri University getting invitation from Thailand to impart knowledge on the age-old meditation technique in their country.
Dinesh Prasad Swain and Prativa Shree from the varsity's faculty of yogic science were invited as resource persons to Mahidol University, a prestigious public university of Thailand, to conduct theory and practical classes for students and participants studying yoga, naturopathy and ayurveda from May 17 to 24.
Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia (Rilca) of the Mahidol University is conducting a programme on yogic science and ayurveda. Both the professors presented a series of lectures on yoga philosophies and also trained the students in various yogic asana postures and meditative practices.
"Students not only from Thailand, but also from countries such as China and Vietnam took a keen interest in our classes," said Swain. Both Swain and Shree have been trained in the Bihar Yoga Bharati at Munger.
The state government has invited them to write books on yoga meant for school stude-nts. As co-authors, they have written a book titled Yoga O Yoga Vigyana on behalf of Board of Secondary Education. They have also trained sports teachers of all the districts of the state.
