Schools celebrate Utkal Divas

Utkal Divas

Various DAV schools across the state celebrated Utkal Divas. Activities like a rendition of Bande Utkal Janani, a one-act play, skit shows and various competitions were organised to highlight the importance of the day at DAV, Chandrasekharpur. At  DAV, Pokhariput, students were shown a documentary on how Odisha became a separate state on linguistic basis. A cultural programme was also presented by the students.

Annual Day

Manjoyt Play School, Bhubaneswar, celebrated its 4th annual day celebrations recently. The guests who joined the fest included former Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology professor Vijaya Nanda Mishra, DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur, faculty member Sandhya Rani Mishra and Niladrivihar Youth and Cultural Association president Prakash Chandra Panigrahi. They stressed on the holistic development of children at school besides focusing on the role of parents in maintaining a healthy academic atmosphere. The 
winners of various competitions organised by the school were given away prizes. A 
colourful cultural show 
was also put up on the occasion by the students.

Aadhaar camp

More than 63 children from Khurda district joined an Aadhaar camp organised by the child welfare committee recently. Twenty-five children also rechecked their Aadhaar cards. Officials said parents who had not yet enrolled their children was given an opportunity to enrol their children for Aadhaar.

Enrolment drive

Centre for Child and Women Development, an organisation based in Bhubaneswar, recently hosted an awareness drive to sensitise slum dwellers about enrolling their children to schools during Prabesh Utsav on April 2. Child Club members of the slums marched in slum pockets with placards and shouting slogans.

New school

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the SAI International Residential School - a fully residential co-educational CBSE affiliated school for students from classes VI to VIII - on April 2. The campus is sprawled atop three hillocks on a 35 acre patch amid the Chandka forest with the Mahanadi meandering nearby. In his address, Naveen spoke of the various proactive steps the government had taken to bring in quality reforms in education in the past 18 years. He emphasised that as education was one of the key priorities of his government, adequate efforts were put in to bring about a change in the sector.
