Bhubaneswar, May 25: The city-based Central Tool Room and Training Centre (CTTC), which rose to fame for supplying components for the Mangalyaan orbiter, is now helping countries such as Mongolia and Myanmar set up tool rooms and training centres.
The "technology sharing" is now being carried out in more than 22 countries, including Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Niger, Congo, Nigeria, Ghana, Burundi, Seychelles, Tanzania, Malawi and Palestine.
Among the vital parts supplied by CTTC were "dynamically-tuned gyroscopes" that provide direction to the satellite, "solar array drive assembly" that helps keep the solar panel perpendicular to sunrays for energy and "advanced inertial navigation system", a navigation aid to calculate the position and velocity of the spacecraft.
India is supplying the required machines to these countries and CTTC being the best performing organisation under the ministry of MSME (micro, small & medium enterprise) has been assigned the task of setting up these training centres and tool rooms abroad.
"Besides helping them set up tool rooms, we are also training their trainers so that they can in turn train their students," said CTTC managing director S. Maity.
The institute is offering more than 70 job-oriented skills development courses for the students of different disciplines starting from under matric to graduate engineers.
"More than 32,000 candidates are passing out from CTTC every year. We are equally delighted to share that our students are being placed worldwide, including countries such as Australia, UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, USA and UK," said Maity.
Following the huge demand for quality skills training, the institute has established two extension centres in Rayagada and Kalinga Nagar (Jajpur) where the candidates will be trained in manufacturing high precision components for machines.
The CTTC in collaboration with Samsung, India, is offering advanced repairing and industrial skills enhancement programmes for various categories.
The organisation is also conducting entrepreneurship skills development for encouraging new ideas and entrepreneurs.
The institute also has two language labs for enhancement of soft skills and personality development of the trainees.
The organisation also includes a dedicated placement cell that supports the trainees in getting jobs.
The CTTC has also represented India in CNC Milling in "World Skills Competition" held in Sao Paulo, Brazil in August 15.
