Cuttack/Bhubaneswar, June 13: Raja being the gala time for film producers, viewers seem ready to throng cinema halls on the occasion. A number of films are also hitting the theatres on Tuesday, which is observed as Pahili Raja across the state.
Considering the cash-in period, Raja has always been a favourite for filmmakers as going to theatres has caught up as one of the traditions of celebrating the festival.
This year, three films — Kiyese Dakuchi Kouthi Mate, Baisi Pahache Kheliba Meena and 143 I Love You — were lined up for release. While the premieres of the first two will be held on Tuesday at a number of theatres throughout the state, the Brajraj Movies production, 143 I Love You was stayed by the court of the district sessions judge, Cuttack, on Monday evening.
Sri Sai Productions producer Lala Manoj Ray had filed the civil suit under the Trade Mark Act, 1999, alleging that the film going to be released by Brajraj Movies under the title 143 I Love You is “deceptively similar” to the film registered earlier by him under the title 143 I Miss You. Judge S. Pujahri ordered for maintaining of status quo with regard to the Oriya film titled 143 I Love You.
The court sought a clarification from Brajraj Movies and its producer Sanjay Nayak, while fixing June 20 for the hearing.
According to Ray, he had registered the title 143 I Miss You with the Regional Officer of Central Board of Film Certification (Cuttack) and chairman Utkal Cine Chamber of Commerce on December 13, 2005.
“As per rules of the Utkal Cine Chamber of Commerce, once a title has been registered in respect of a film, it is valid up to 10 years since the day of such registration and no one can produce any film having similar title previously registered,” he contended.
Though his film is caught in a legal tangle, producer of 143 I Love You, Sanjay Nayak, had organised a pre-launch event on Sunday evening and was confident about the success of his film.
“We have worked very hard on the project and we are sure the audience will love the film. Moreover, heartthrobs like Sidhant and Babushan will definitely pull viewers,” he had said on the occasion.
With 143 I Love You out of the Raja film race, the contest for success among film makers now seems easier. The other two Raja releases should be expected to get more viewership.
“My film Baisi Pahache Kheliba Mina is based on the destruction of the world and a family is trying to get together during this troublesome time,” said producer Subham Satabdi.
Film Kiyese Dakuchi Kouthi Mate will be the main attraction for viewers due to its strong star cast with Anubhav, Barsha, Somesh and a Kashmira Shah item number. Malay Mishra has worked on the story and music for the film whereas Sudhakar Basant is the director.
