Jajpur, Sept. 15: A 35-year-old man allegedly kidnapped a minor girl and raped her over four days in a forest near the Kalinga Nagar industrial complex, around 40km from here, police said today.
The accused, a father of three, left the girl at a spot about 2km from her house at Kalinga Nagar. The accused, Kalia Poi, a resident of Dhuligarh village, is absconding. The victim’s father lodged an FIR with Jajpur Road police station yesterday.
According to the complaint, the 16-year-old girl used to work at a private steel plant in the Kalinga Nagar industrial complex. Poi, who was known to her, called her when she was returning home alone after the day’s work on Tuesday evening. She went with Poi because she knew him. But the accused forcefully took her to a nearby forest and raped her. After spending the night there, Poi took her to other areas of the forest over the next three days and continued raping her.
“When the victim tried to protest, Kalia threatened to kill her with a sharp weapon,” said Aswini Kumar Sahu, inspector in charge of Jajpur Road police station.
The accused dumped the victim near a temple at Mangobindapur, about 2km away from her home in the early hours of Saturday. Some local residents spotted the girl and informed her family. Later, her father filed the FIR.
“Kalia raped the minor girl over four days. The accused dumped the victim at an isolated place and fled. He had threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident,” said Sahu, adding the accused was married and a father of three.
Medical examination of the girl has been conducted and police have formed special teams to arrest the accused.
