Bhubaneswar, April 27: One of the biggest questions haunting movie buffs across the country since 2015 has been: "Why did Katappa kill Bahubali?" The answer is just a day away and fans in the state cannot wait.
Two years after the release of the first Bahubali, the concluding part is set to solve the mystery that has kept the whole country impatient. It doesn't matter if the summer is at its worst and the temperature is hovering around 40°C, Bahubali fans are braving the heat to book tickets for the film.
The mythological action thriller will release in a number of theatres across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and fans are queuing up to book tickets in advance.
Inox, the city's only multiplex, will run around 12 shows in Hindi and most of the tickets for the weekends are already sold out. Single-screen theatres in the city such as Keshari and S Complex will run five shows of the film.
Almost all the tickets for the weekend have been sold out. "We opened advance bookings for online tickets and the response has been great. We want to see a houseful audience for all the shows this weekend," said Swagat Kar, one of the film's distributors in the state and founder of www.bookticketnow.com.
For a few crazy movie lovers, however, just watching the movie is not enough - getting a first day-first show ticket is very important.
"The scene of Katappa taking the sword and plunging it in Bahubali's back was very thrilling and since then there has been a constant urge to know why. I knew tickets would not be available on the day of the release. So I booked tickets for my family three days ago," said Meghna Nath, a 27-year-old IT professional.
At Grand Cine Complex, one of the oldest theatres in Cuttack, around 90 per cent of the tickets for the weekends were booked within the first three days since advance bookings began.
"We started our bookings from Monday and bookings have not stopped since then. We feel it will run in theatres for at least for a month," said Shantanu, an official from the theatre.
Although other big budget films such as Noor and Fast and Furious: 8 are also running in theatres, there is no rush for these films, says hall owners.
The film will also release in Telugu at a number of theatres and members of the community living in the city have planned to watch the film together.
