Cuttack, May 31: A 20-year-old man was injured when three motorcycle-borne goons shot him in the busy Kathagola area under Mangalabagh police limits here today.

The man, Tukuna Bag, who manages the Matrukrupa medicine store, was shot twice in his right thigh. He is undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital.

The incident occurred around 8.20am when Tukuna was busy performing puja after opening the store along with two other employees.

Sources said the goons attacked Tukuna after his brother Lituna, who owns the store, had refused to withdraw an FIR lodged against a group of criminals of Darzi Sahi who had demanded Rs 1,000 from him.

Even though he paid the money they still ransacked the doctor’s chamber located in his store on Wednesday.

“The goons called my brother outside the store and opened fired at him. They were putting pressure on us to withdraw the complaint lodged against them,” said Lituna.

He said their family was shocked by the firing incident, as these goons had killed another trader in the Matamatha area in December last year.

The crime branch today arrested a 22-year-old techie on charges of creating a fake profile of a teenage girl and posting sexually explicit comments about her on a social networking site.
