Fifteen teams have been formed to tackle any eventuality. Six kalyan mandaps, three night shelters and community buildings will be ready to accommodate displaced people. Seven water tankers, each having capacity of 5,000 litres, will on stand-by. Seven excavators are ready to clear roads of uprooted trees. The state-level Disaster Rapid Action Force is action ready. Bhubaneswar has two platoons of the force and a team of fire service personnel. There will be monitoring of low-lying and slum areas
Cesu
Central Electricity Supply Utility (Cesu) has formed three teams, one each under its three divisions in the city. Tree-cutting activities will be taken up, while adequate staff and contractors are also on alert
PHEO
Public Health Engineering Organisation (PHEO) will keep water tankers ready. In case pumping and treatment of water from the river is affected due to power outage, 240 production wells will be run with diesel pumps. Diesel has been stocked and generators have been kept on standby
PWD
Public works department (PWD) has formed four teams under its four divisions to repair damaged roads, embankments and houses. If trees are uprooted, PWD men will take up road clearance work
Fire service
Fire brigade personnel have been asked to step up tree-cutting activities on priority basis
Capital Hospital
24X7 team of specialists to handle emergency referrals. A 50-100 bed hospital will be set up, while special casualty and operation theatre will be opened for cyclone-hit people. A special team under the chief district medical officer will monitor public health activities at hospital
Police
Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Police have asked Puja organisers to strengthen bamboo gates and deploy volunteers to avoid untoward incidents. Additional police force will be deployed at each police station for rescue operations
East Coast Railways (ECoR)
Special relief trains planned for disaster-affected areas. Extra diesel engines have been requisitioned in case there is a problem in running electric locomotives. Special mobile catering service to be opened at major stations. Emergency employees of various departments have been advised to stay at headquarters during Puja holidays
