Bhubaneswar, Dec. 17: One of the year's most awaited films, the Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol-starrer Dilwale, is set to hit the screens tomorrow and fan frenzy in the city ahead of its theatrical release is high.
People of all age groups have been gripped with excitement and anticipation as one of the popular Bollywood pairs reunite on the big screen after almost six years.
The enthusiasm could be gauged from tickets sales with almost all the major cinemas in the city being booked in advance for the weekend. Movie buffs have been queuing up at the all the seven cinemas across Bhubaneswar as well as the Inox multiplexes this week to book their seats.
Tickets for Friday, Saturday and Sunday for most shows at INOX multiplexes have been sold out. The scenario is similar at other theatres such as S Complex, Keshari and Maharaja. For a few crazy movie lovers, however, just watching the movie is not enough - getting a first day-first show ticket was really important.
"I knew tickets would not be available on the day of the release. But, I could not have missed watching the Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge pair on the first day. So I booked tickets for my family three days ago," said 27-year-old IT professional, Sukarna Tripahty.
Shows at other theatres have also been booked.
"We opened advance bookings for online tickets since Tuesday and the response has been huge. We will witness a houseful audience for all the shows this weekend," said Swagat Kar, one of the film's distributors in the state and founder of www.bookticketnow.com.
Although another big-budget film Bajirao Mastani starring Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh would also hit theatres on the same day, it has not managed to garner as much attraction. "I am also interested in Bajirao Mastani as it looks interesting but it can wait," said college student Subrat Behera.
The film will also release at a number of theatres in Cuttack, Rourkela, Puri, Berhampur and Jeypore.
Youngsters from Balasore have grand plans for the film. Around 100 students from various colleges of the district will march in a procession from Station Square to the theatre Movie X before watching the film. The students plan to wear white t-shirts with an image of Shah Rukh Khan imprinted on it.
