Bhubaneswar, Oct. 16: Disability rights activist Jitendra Biswal, whose five-minute film My Attitude, My Life...Despite My Disability won praise from various quarters, is set for his silver screen debut.

The 45-year-old will play the protagonist in the upcoming Two Desires and a Dream. The film, which is based on experiences from his own life, shows the importance of love, especially the differently-abled.

Biswal, who has been suffering from a muscular disease since childhood and is wheelchair-bound, aims to sensitise people about the differently-abled.

"We too want to talk to a girl, be friends with her and fall in love with a beautiful woman. But, people fail to understand this and we are often forced to suppress our feelings," said Biswal.

"Because of my extreme disability, shooting for a full-length feature film was a challenge. I used to get tired and forget my lines. But, I did not give up," the actor said.

Ad film-maker Avinash Nanda, the director of the film that was shot in Hindi, said he attempted to highlight the issues that were important in life, especially the need for love for persons living with disabilities.

"I wanted to focus on socially relevant material that challenges the audience to explore new ideas and think about common societal beliefs. People from all over the world will be able to connect with the film," said Nanda.

Playing the role of the Jitendra's love interest is Odia actress Swapna Pati. The film also stars Bollywood actors Preeti Jhangiani, Brijendra Kala and Aryan Vaid.

From politicians and columnists to actors and film-makers, several prominent personalities such as Twinkle Khanna, Shashi Tharoor and Manoj Bajpayee are promoting the film on the social media.

The film is being shown at a number of international film festivals and will be released in India next year.

Biswal, who also holds a certificate in business management from IIM, Ranchi, and has worked as a motivational counsellor, said: "I try to counsel differently-abled people spiritually when somebody approaches me with their problems. I have been wheelchair-bound since I was five. People often get irritated with me as I lose control of myself. But, I am a human being, too, and want to be treated like one."
