Balasore, May 18: A team of Delhi Police on Tuesday evening arrested a person from Balasore railway station as soon as he alighted from the Puri-bound Neelachal Express. The accused, Mahendra Sahu (58), was wanted in a theft case.

He had allegedly stolen of Rs 4.8 lakh from a Delhi-based businessman. The police, however, was able to recover Rs 2.02 lakh from his possession. He was produced in the local SDJM court here and was sent to jail on judicial custody.

“On information that he has fled from Delhi by train after committing the offence, we took a flight to Bhubaneswar and reached the station before the train could reach here,” said Rajesh Kumar, the sub-inspector, who was leading a team of four policemen.
