Bhubaneswar, Sept. 1: Admissions to the MSc (life science) Ed programme at Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar, will begin tomorrow.

This innovative pre-professional training programme is specially designed for science teachers in the field of biology and zoology.

National Council of Educational Research and Training had stopped the course in 1998.

Due to a rise in demand, it will be relaunched. “Considering the rising demand for the subject, the council decided to reintroduce it,” said principal of the institute U.K. Nanda.

“While the RIE Bhubaneswar meets the students’ requirements in the eastern region, the MSc (life science) Ed course will cater to students across the country,” said Nanda.

He was speaking on the sidelines of the 50th foundation day celebrations of the council here today.

“As many as 600 applications were received for 20 seats of the programme,” said Prof. D. Rao, head of the life science programme.

The institute authorities announced an early-childhood programme at Demonstration Multipurpose School from this academic year.

Apart from the RIE, Bhubaneswar, other constituent units of the council are located in Bhopal, Ajmer and Mysore.
