Bhubaneswar, April 25: Come Saturday evening, and the city will witness Kailash Kher and his band Kailasa perform at Janata Maidan here.
The event, named Kailasa, is being organised by Abele and XCV Entertainment in association with The Telegraph. The sufi rock night is dedicated to a charitable cause.
Kailash Kher enjoys a huge fan following and his songs, which are of varied genres, strike an instant chord. Born in Meerut, the 40-year-old singer has given many chartbusters over the years. After starting his career by lending his voice to commercials, the song Allah ke Bande catapulted him to superstardom.
His song Teri Deewani is still considered a benchmark in romantic numbers. His versatility can be judged by the fact that he has sung songs in 20-odd languages and has also composed the music for several films.
His Indian fusion band Kailasa has produced hit albums such as Jhomo Re, Chandan Mein and Rangeele.
“I have been to Bhubaneswar before. It is very serene and I admire the taste of music lovers of the city,” said Kher, who is excited to perform in the city. His fans are equally thrilled to attend the concert.
“I have been following his songs for years. His songs are deep and they touch your heart. From heart warming to peppy, his command over various genres is incredible,” said Prateek Mohapatra, an avid fan of singer.
Another fan of the singer is actor-turned-politician Akash Dasnayak, who has been named brand ambassador of the event.
“Kailash Kher is not just a singer, he is a sensation. His songs are soothing to the soul and I listen to them to calm my frayed nerves. I look forward to meeting him,” he said.
About 4,000 people are expected to fill up the Janata Maidan arena.
“We have done a lot of leg work to make sure there are no last-minute hiccups. I am very hopeful that the event will be a success and remembered for a long time,” said actor Partha Sarathi Ray who is also director of event management company, Abele.
The event is for charitable cause and a large chunk of the profits from the show will be donated to Nursing Bishnu Priya Seva Trust, which conducts medical camps for the less privileged in Jharsuguda and Sambalpur districts.
