Bhubaneswar, Feb. 22: An international conference titled “Future education: Perspectives and Programmes” began at the Utkal University here today.
The three-day programme is being jointly organised by the Centre of Advanced Studies for Philosophy, Utkal University, and the Neohumanist Education Research Institute, Sweden.
“The purpose of the programme is to examine the inherent inadequacies and lacunas in the different systems of current education,” said coordinator of the event A.K. Mohanty from the Centre of Advanced Studies for Philosophy.
The programme intends to reflect upon the nature of future education and modalities of implementing them.
The three-day deliberations will focus on the nature of course content and syllabi in all the streams of education. The delegates will also hold discussions on the methods of teaching, classroom ambiance and teacher-student relationship.
Efforts will be made to examine the different paradigms and models of teaching and find out the reasons why they have failed to yield results.
Speaking at the inaugural session, secretary of higher education Aparajita Sarangi said findings of the conference would be studied by the department of higher education and incorporated in the various syllabuses. Sarangi was the chief guest for the event.
