Bhubaneswar: The government will conduct a start-up conclave during the second Make in Odisha conclave to boost entrepreneurship culture in Odisha between November 11 to 15 this year.
The decision was made during Thursday's meeting of the start-up council chaired by chief secretary A.P. Padhi. The conclave will include a hackathon, boot camp and exhibition of products and services of start-ups from Odisha.
"The initiative would help those with a business idea to chose the right ways and suggest ways to gather recourses. They will be trained for a period of time before they launch their start-ups," said L.N. Gupta, additional chief secretary of the MSME department
"There are seven incubators for start-ups with an area of over 4 lakh square feet to assist the start-ups. Already a network of 108 mentors have been put in place," he said.
The council also approved a one-time capital grant of Rs 1 crore to KIIT TBI and Rs 50 lakh to Foundation for Technology Business Incubator of NIT, Rourkela. It also sanctioned need-based assistance of Rs 5 lakhs to Orduino Labs Pvt. Ltd and Rs 12 lakh to Coastkings Pvt. Ltd.
Gupta said there were 233 start-ups in 39 sectors in Odisha.
