Paradip, Jan. 15: The impasse over shipment of about 25,000 tonnes of petroleum coke from Paradip refinery has been resolved with local truck operators giving up on their agitation.
Transporters from Paradip, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara areas had stalled transportation of petroleum coke from the refinery to the port since Saturday to protest against what they had termed as a "drastic loss" to their business.
But the issue has been sorted out with an amicable settlement reached between refinery officials and members of truck owners' association with the administration performing the role of a mediator.
It has been decided that the petroleum coke would be transported both through the sea route and through national highways.
Earlier, it was decided that the coke products would be transported through sea route only, which the truckers had opposed.
"But, keeping in view the business interest of the local truck service operators, we have also decided to dispatch coke through road route," said deputy general manager, (marketing), Paradip oil refinery, Durga Satapathy.
