Bhubaneswar: The precincts of the 11th century architectural marvel, Rajarani Temple, have come alive with classical tunes as famous names in the field of music are performing at the ongoing Rajarani Music Festival.

A number of musicians, music lovers, scholars, youngsters and foreign tourists attended the event.

"The main motive is to promote musical traditions of the state. Over the years, many well-known musicians from all over world have performed here. Enjoying music in this ambience is the major attraction for the tourists," said GKCM Odissi Research Centre chief executive Sangeeta Gosain.

On the inaugural evening, Odia musicians Ramesh Chandra Das played violin, while Srinibas Satapathy enthralled the audience with his flute recital in the jugalbandi. Later, Sanjay Subramanyan's Carnatic vocal was the major attraction.

Matruprasad Das and Himansu Sekhar Swain's Odissi vocal and Viku Vnayakram's Ghattam entertained the gathering in the second evening of the festival.

The violin performance of Ganesh and Kumaresh and Hindustani vocal by Sanjiv Abhyankar drew a lot of attention on the final day.

The festival garnered a lot of enthusiasm from people across the state. Despite the cold weather, a number of culture students attended the event. "This was an opportunity for us to gather and take lessons from the senior musicians. I got a chance to meet a number of singers and instrumentalists and learn about the latest trends in the field," said Archana Satpathy, a music student.

The festival was recorded for archival purposes. "It will help the students in future," said Gosain.
