Bhubaneswar, Feb 9: Union minister of state for rural development Ram Kripal Yadav today said that the Odisha government "lacked the common sense" on how to provide security to the VIPs.

Yadav was aggrieved after landing at Biju Patnaik International Airport and seeing that that there was "no proper security arrangement" for him.

"There is security threat to my life. If any thing should happen to me, who will take the responsibility?" he fumed.

Calling the Odisha government a "heartless creature", the Union minister said: "We don't show such behaviour even to our enemies."

Accusing the Odisha government for its failure to utilise the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, he said: "All of you should wait. I will give a clear picture after the end of the panchayat polls. We will expose the corruptions being committed by the state government."

The minister alleged that the money of various central government schemes was being siphoned off by the state government.

Reacting to Yadav's accusation, BJD's spokesperson Sashi Bhusan Behera said: "Yadav was here to campaign for his party candidates. As it is not a government programme, the issue would be looked into by the State Election Commission."

However, a senior official of the state home department said: "We provided him security after we received a letter about his visit at 2pm today."

Last month, former Prime Minister H.D. Dev Gowda had alleged that the state government had failed to provide him security according to protocol during his visit to Odisha.

In June last year, Union minister of state for textiles Santosh Gangwar's car had been attacked and the BJP had then alleged that the police did not provide him security as the BJD leaders "had led" the attack.
