Central doles for Odisha

Bhubaneswar, March 30: Odisha government officials posted in New Delhi today informed chief minister Naveen Patnaik about various decisions that the Centre has taken recently.

Naveen today reviewed the actions that have been taken on important issues which were discussed during his meetings with various Union ministers between January 2012 and December 2012.

The Centre has agreed to deploy two more battalions of Border Security Force for anti-Maoist operations in Odisha.

The telecommunication ministry will also expedite proposals to install mobile towers and digital phone terminals in the Naxalism-affected areas of Odisha.

Officials informed the chief minister that the Union ministry of tribal affairs had finally recommended Odisha’s proposal for livelihood improvement of “particularly vulnerable tribal groups” to the Union ministry of finance for funding multilateral agencies.

The Centre has agreed to release funds to India Tourism Development Corporation for light and sound shows at Konark, Dhauli and Udayagiri.

Naveen was also apprised that the technical advisory committee of the ministry of water resources had cleared the Anandpur Barrage Irrigation Project. He was also informed that the Indian Council of Agriculture Research had approved the proposals of Odisha to sanction Rs 50 crore for creation of infrastructure and research at Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology and the first instalment of Rs 10 crore would be released shortly.

The government officials also informed the chief minister that the Centre was willing to promote Nabakalebara (change of idols of Lord Jagannath and his siblings) across the globe.

The Airports Authority of India has also revised the master plan for development of Jharsuguda airport and concluded their pre-feasibility study for development of Jeypore airstrip into a full-fledged airport.
