Bhubaneswar, Feb. 23: Utkal University of Culture is set to introduce various reforms in its examination system.

The varsity has made CCTV cameras mandatory in the examination halls of all the 42 colleges affiliated to the varsity across the state.

"We have made it mandatory that by this year all the colleges have to tighten security at the colleges to ensure that the process is conducted in a fair manner," said registrar Suman Das. "The cameras have to be installed latest before the December exams," he said.

The colleges will need to submit a report on the installation of CCTVs before the exams. A special investigation committee will take action against erring colleges.

Also, the process is on for digitising the admission and form-fill up process. The National Informatics Centre has been given this responsibility. "We have students coming from various backgrounds. The website will be friendly so that the process is easy. Also, online application will help students from outside the state apply easily," said Das.

A conference for principals and directors of colleges under the varsity was held recently on the Madanpur campus where a number of decisions regarding changes in the examination and other processes of the varsity were taken.

Overcoming the loopholes that are restricting the varsity to receive financial assistance under Section 12B of the UGC Act is also on the agenda.

The state government has created 33 posts - 10 teaching and 23 for non-teaching staff.

"We aim to fill the posts in two months," said vice-chancellor Kamal Kanta Mishra.
