The sports department has decided to increase the stadium's seating capacity by 5,000 before next year's Hockey World Cup. It will also host the Hockey World League Final in December. Sports department officials said an additional stand would be built to increase the capacity.

"The capacity of any stadium hosting World Cup matches should be between 10,000 and 15,000. The existing capacity is 8,000 and we will come up with an additional stand. Besides, the seating capacity of the existing stands will also be increased," said a sports department official.

The stadium was inaugurated in 2013. "We also plan to change the turf after the Hockey World League Final. A final decision will be taken after the tournament," said the official.
