What: A two-day spring camp hosted by the Association of Sacred Heart Alumni (ASHA)

Where: Sacred Heart Convent School, Jamshedpur

When: February 23 and February 24

Creative minds: As many as 120 students from classes II to V took a break from studies post exams to try something creative and innovative. The children tried their hand in making chocolate balls, artefacts with jute and flowers out of mineral water bottles. They also picked up the tie and dye art, commonly known as bandhni, and learnt to make chart paper lanterns. The two-day camp also nurtured their culinary skills. In the end, all agreed to exhibit their new-gained skills and help their mothers at home

Vox pop: “Students usually get bored at home after annual examinations. ASHA, therefore, hosts this camp to engage students in a creative way. We hone their skills in making objects that they can continue to create at home. Also, the feeling of being present in school and yet not study is great,” said Sumita Ghosh, an ASHA member

Help at hand: Nearly 25 students from Class IX played the role of volunteers, group in-charges and teacher assistants during the weekend

On the cards: Apart from the spring camp, a number of activities like Udaan, a competition among project schools, talent hunt, intra-school competition for primary students and DJ Nite will also be held by ASHA in the days to come. The proceeds of some of the events will be donated for education of girls
