Bhubaneswar, May 11: Burglars broke into a mobile repairing shop in Shahid Nagar area last night and decamped with mobile phones and laptops worth more than Rs 2 lakh.
According to police sources, the thieves entered the shop owned by Debashish Bastia around 11pm by breaking its asbestos roof. A case has been registered in the Shahid Nagar police station in this regard.
“I went home around 11 last night after closing the shop. But when I opened the shop this morning, I found things were scattered all around. I also noticed a hole has been made on the roof. After checking, I found 30 mobile phones, one laptop and cash worth Rs 5,000 had been stolen from the shop,” said Bastia. He has lodged a complaint with the police station in this regard.
The police later visited the spot. “We are investigating into the matter and hope to arrest the accused soon,” said a police officer.
This was not the only case of burglary that took place recently in the capital. On April 29, some burglars had entered into the house of Bharati Ray in Banshi Vihar area under Infocity police station by breaking a window.
They had stolen gold ornaments worth more than three lakh rupees. A case had been registered in the police station, but the police are yet to nab the culprits.
On April 19, burglars had entered Rabindra Behera’s house in Indira Housing Colony under Lingaraj police station by breaking a window grill and took away valuables worth two lakh rupees.
Rabindra’s wife and daughter were at the house when the incident occurred, but they could hardly know anything about the matter. A case has been registered in the Lingaraj police station in regard to this incident too.
