Bhubaneswar, Oct. 31: Jatin Das Centre of Arts in the city is all set to host the seventh National Short and Documentary Film Festival in January.
The itinerary of the festival announced this week includes an international film show and exhibition of handlooms and handicrafts.
The festival, one-of-its-kind in the country on art and artists, has already made a mark on the National Film Festival calendar. It has also been appreciated by film personalities and critics.
The theme for the 2013 edition of the festival will be Buddhist art and culture. Films available with Films Division, archives, various institutes, film-makers and foreign countries are expected to be screened during the festival.
A section to highlight the rich Buddhist heritage — particularly in art and architecture of Odisha not known to the public, archaeologists, and research scholars outside the state — will also be a part of the event.
It will also provide a platform and opportunity for the youth, particularly student film-makers, to screen their short films with duration of five minutes to 15 minutes.
The organisers have announced that an award will be given to the best student short film-maker in the valedictory event of the festival as an encouragement and incentive to the young film-maker.
Eminent film personalities of the country have participated in the workshops organised during the festival in the past. Many are also expected to attend the event this year.
The festival will be organised from January 11 to 13 at the Idcol auditorium in the state capital.
