Tourists dead
Bhubaneswar: Two women tourists from Nepal were found dead in a tourist bus that left from Calcutta on Monday evening and reached at Malatipatpur bus terminal in Puri, around 50km from here, on Tuesday morning. Police suspected that the tourist duo died of diarrhoea. The deceased have been identified as Koli Passi, 65, and Suri Moria, 70, both natives of Banke district in Nepal. The deceased were part of a 63-member tourists’ group that had left Nepal on September 18 on a pilgrimage.
Mob fury
Jajpur: Tension erupted in Kalinganagar in Jajpur district on Tuesday during the public hearing for the establishment of a cement factory by a private firm in the area as local residents, who opposed the construction of the plant, barged in and ransacked the venue. The district administration had to cancel the public hearing following the incident.
Thalassemia
Nayagarh: As many as six thalassemia affected children were taken seriously ill after being transfused blood at the district headquarters hospital in Nayagarh district. The Nayagarh chief district medical officer (CDMO) informed that the blood samples will be sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for testing.
