Writing contest
Bhubaneswar: Utkal University will organise a writing contest for the postgraduate students of the English department to mark the 400th death anniversary of Shakespeare. The top two students of the competition will go on a trip to Stratford-upon-Avon, in UK, the birthplace of Shakespeare. The competition will be held in September and the winners of the competition will be announced on November 11.
Hut torched
Bhadrak: A mob torched a fabrication unit and a hut belonging to a man of Hatasagar village on Saturday night.
Residents said that a 25 year-old youth of Hatasagar village had kidnapped a 23-year-old girl of Balinagar on Wednesday. Superintendent of police, Bhadrak , Dillip Das, said: “Three platoons of police were deployed and six persons have been arrested on Sunday. A peace committee meeting, involving both the communities, was also called. The situation is being closely monitored. Efforts are on to rescue the girl.”
Body found
Bhubaneswar: The body of a 19-year-old married woman identified as Muskan Seikh of Gobindtola was retrieved from a well at Bhutapara on Sunday. The family members of the deceased alleged that her husband and her in-laws had murdered Muskan. The local people of Gobindtola and Muskan’s family blocked the Laxmi Talkies-Dhanupali road for
more than one hour demanding arrest of the accused.
