Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday said the government would bear the entire cost of treatment of Parala Maharaja Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deb. He said health and family welfare minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak would shortly visit Chennai to take stock of the royal scion’s treatment.

Bhubaneswar: The Congress’s Tapaswini Majhi was elected as chairperson of Kesinga Notified Area Council on Wednesday in a setback to the BJD. Election to the post was necessitated after former chairperson Gitanjali Bariha of the BJD lost a no-confidence motion on February 3.

Trader held

Jajpur: Jajpur police on Wednesday arrested a pani puri trader for his alleged involvement in an inter-state fake currency racket. The accused has been identified as Amarjeet Sahani, a resident of Pabara village in Bihar’s Begusarai district. 

“A special police team nabbed him from Dolipur within the district’s Jajpur Road police limits,” said Jajpur superintendent of police Anup Kumar Sahu.
