New home dept site

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday launched a new website of the home department with a special feature that lets differently-abled people to see, hear and access it. The website — www.homeodisha.gov.in — has been developed by the National Informatics Centre and is a bilingual portal available both in English and Odia. 

Ration cards

Bhubaneswar: Ineligible beneficiaries who possess ration cards under the National Food Security Act have been given a last opportunity to return their cards by September 30. The food supplies and consumer welfare department on Saturday said that if the illegible beneficiaries returned their cards by the designated date, they would not have to pay any fine or face legal action. The department has also decided to complete the process of providing ration cards to eligible beneficiaries within the next month.

Clash with cops

Bhubaneswar: Activists of the Youth Congress on Saturday clashed with police while they were staging a protest demanding the arrest of law minister Arun Sahu and housing and urban development minister Pushpendra Singh Deo for their alleged links with Motilal Gauda. The cops blocked their motorcycle rally at AG Square on their way to Sahu's official residence, following which, a scuffle ensued.

Filaria

Bhubaneswar: The health department, in collaboration with the National Health Mission, will distribute free medicines for prevention of filariasis in six districts from August 10.
