Cuttack: A PIL was filed in the Orissa High Court on Tuesday alleging inaction by the state government in arresting the culprits responsible for the tragic death of five villagers during an anti-Maoist operation at Gumudumaha in Kandhamal district on July 8 and demanding a CBI probe into the incident. 

Babies killed

Nuapada: A woman killed her three babies by drowning them in a well at Keshrajpur village within the limits of Boden police station on Tuesday. Police have detained the accused mother, Lochani Majhi, and are interrogating her. 

Cash loot

Bhadrak: Unidentified persons on Tuesday looted Rs 23 lakh from a van that was carrying cash for an ATM at Bhadrak.

Petition rejected 

Bhubaneswar: The bail petition of sham deposit collection company Oscar Group’s director Tara Prasad Hota was rejected at the Chit Fund Special Court in Cuttack on Tuesday. The company is alleged to have duped  investors of Rs 230 crore. The Economic Offences Wing had earlier arrested chairman Pravas Rout.

Accident

Bhadrak: Angry people set several vehicles, including two trucks and a fire tender, ablaze, while protesting following the death of a girl student in an accident at Bonth Bazaar on Tuesday. The protesters blocked the Bhadrak-Anandpur Road.
