Cong MLA joins BJD

Bhubaneswar: Former Bonai MLA and Congress leader Bhimsen Choudhury joined the BJD along with his 500 supporters at the party headquarters on Tuesday. Choudhury joined BJD at a meeting in the presence of party supremo and chief minister Naveen Patnaik. “Bhimsen Choudhury, ex-MLA, along with 500 Congress party members from Bonai in Sundargarh district have joined BJD,” Patnaik said.

Cow shelters

Bhubaneswar: The  government on Tuesday decided to provide financial support to registered private cow shelters. The secretary of fisheries and animal resource development, Bisnhupada Sethi, said the support would be extended from this year.

HC petition

Cuttack: Mukti Mandap Pandit Sabha, a body of religious scholars of the Jagannath temple in Puri, has moved Orissa High Court. The body wants to be made a party in the case opposing Shankaracharya  climbing atop chariots during the rath yatra. 

Studio shut

Balasore: Cops sealed a photo studio and seized cameras and memory chips, based on the allegation that the studio had clicked obscene photographs of a girl. Action was taken following a complaint by the victim’s mother.
