Newborn found

Cuttack: A three-day-old girl was found abandoned at Sishu Bhavan here on Friday. Hospital records mention that the child belongs to a Choudwar-based couple, who had admitted her at the hospital here on Thursday. It is believed that her parents have abandoned her. The newborn is suffering from congenital heart ailment and hydrocephalus, which may be the reason why her parents have abandoned her, said district child line co-ordinator Narayan 
Shukla.

Suspension

Bhubaneswar: IPS officer Joydeep Nayak, who was allegedly involved in a Rs 88-lakh scam in the Human Rights Protection Cell, was on Friday suspended by the Tripura government. Nayak is an IPS officer of Tripura-Manipur cadre. He has been on deputation to Odisha since 2012 and was the inspector general of the State SC/ST Protection Cell and the Human Right Protection Cell since December, 2015.

Group clash

Balasore: Tension gripped a village on the outskirt of this town as two groups of a community clashed with each other over the diversity in their beliefs. At least six persons, including a woman. were injured in the clash. 

Plus II books 

Bhubaneswar: The higher education department on Friday launched a new set of Plus Two books that have been redesigned on the lines of the CBSE. Only 10 out of the total 30 prescribed books were released. The “compulsory books” for subjects such as mathematics, chemistry, physics, English and Odia have been released.
