Pump loot

Bhubaneswar: Goons looted Rs 8 lakh from a petrol pump after opening fire at the manager at Balaramprasad Chhak in Dhenkanal on Monday. The manager of Nilamadhab Petrol Pump, Pratap Prushty, has been admitted to the Dhenknal district headquarters hospital.

Five arrested

Bhubaneswar: Five persons have been arrested for allegedly cheating people of over Rs 1 crore. Sunil Dungdung of Koelnagar and four of his associates — Sunil Minz, Amit Minz, Anil Minz and Prakash Pradhan —  have been taken into custody.

Merit list

Bhubaneswar: Third merit list of Plus Two science, arts, commerce, vocational and Sanskrit was published on Monday. Around 1.10 lakh seats in all streams are lying vacant after the second merit list was announced. Admissions will be conducted on July 8 and 9.

Dowry case

Paradip: Police have registered a dowry torture case against deputy commandant of Paradip Coast Guard K.S. Bora following a complaint by his wife, a sub-ordinate officer in the coast guard. 

Thieves nabbed

Bhubaneswar: Cops on Monday nabbed two motorcycle thieves and seized 15 bikes from their possession. The criminals used to steal motorcycles from Bhubaneswar and sell them in neighbouring Bengal. 

Deposit

Bhubaneswar: Tamil Nadu-based Selvam Educational and Charitable Trust, which owns the Sardar Rajas Medical College and Hospital at Jaring in Kalahandi district, deposited Rs 2 crore with the Supreme Court on Monday.  The court on May 9 warned the trust of issuing non-bailable warrants against the management if it fails to deposit Rs 2 crore. The court had observed that the trust should compensate its students for pushing them to uncertainty.
