Promote artistes
Bhubaneswar: The state culture department has formed Nagar Kala Sanskruti Sangha in nine urban local bodies on Wednesday to promote folk artistes. The centres have been set up in the civic bodies of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Berhampur, Rourkela, Baripada, Bhadrak, Balasore and Sambalpur. The centres will assist foartistes r to find livelihood.
Bar council
Cuttack: Members of the Odisha State Bar Council expressed no confidence motion against its chairman and urged him to pave the way for fresh elections for the post. Members of the 156 bar associations across the state, which are affiliated to the State Bar Council elect 25 members for a five-year term and these members elect the chairman, vice-chairman and representative to Bar Council of India.
Convicted
Bhubaneswar: A Bhubaneswar court convicted former IFS and divisional forest officer of Kuchinda, Laxmidhar Bhoi, with rigorous imprisonment of two years after finding him guilty of possessing disproportionate assets. The vigilance department had raided his official residence, office chamber at Kuchinda and his house in Angul in 1997. The disproportionate assets are worth Rs 11.87 lakh.
