Shot dead

Rourkela: A liquor trader who was shot dead by three unidentified criminals at Kapisinga village in Sundargarh district. Bhagaban Singh was selling country-made  liquor when three motorcycle-borne men came and fired at him. He died on the spot killing him on the spot. They looted Rs 15,000 cash from him and sped away towards Jharkhand.

Two killed

Balangir: Two persons were killed and five others sustained injuries when a mini truck in which they were travelling fell off a bridge near Chhatamakhana. The truck  was carrying seven persons. The injured  have been shifted to VSS Institute of Medical Science and Research in Burla.

Cash loot

Baripada: Unidentified armed and masked men looted Rs 4.75 lakh cash  from a crusher owner, Amiya Das, 40, on Monday. The incident took place in Talagaon village in Jamda police station limits. Seven robbers came in 3 motorcycles and after threatening Das at gunpoint, looted the cash and sped away.

World Bank

Bhubaneswar: Utkarsha, an integrated textile and handloom programme, assisted by the World Bank is being implemented successfully in the state. This was revealed during the annual review of handlooms, textiles and handicrafts department by chief minister Naveen Patnaik.

Free medicines

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday began the e-tendering process for supply of free medicines worth Rs 239 crore to poor patients during the 2016-17 fiscal. The managing director of Odisha State Medical Corporation (OSMC), Parameswar B, informed that the online bidding document has already been uploaded on the NIC as well as in the OSMC website. “We hope there would be more participation this year,” said Parameswar.”
