Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Bakery Association on Friday claimed that no chemicals were used in the bread produced in the state. According to members of the association, the bread produced in the state did not contain the chemicals Potassium bromate and Iodate.

Bhubaneswar: Arif Khan, the notorious sharp-shooter for the Dhal Samant brothers, was produced before the sub-divisional judicial magistrate’s court in Cuttack on Friday. He had been arrested in connection with the murder of Mohammad Farooq, a pulse trader in Cuttack’s Malgodown area.

Bhubaneswar: The National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, has suspended the security officer who was accused of sexual harassment of a female security staff member. According to sources in the institute, the three-member committee, which was constituted to probe into the controversy, had recommended the action against the alleged accused.

Bhubaneswar: Interceptor vehicles will patrol the roads of Bhubaneswar to check traffic violations, Odisha director-general of police K.B. Singh said on Friday. The interceptors will keep an eye on over-speeding vehicles and alcoholic drivers and take strict action against people caught violating rules.
NEST date
Bhubaneswar: The National Entrance Screening Test (Nest) for admission into the National Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhubaneswar and the Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence at the University of Mumbai will take place on Saturday. A record 54,228 students have applied for Nest this year.
Heat torment
Bhubaneswar: Several places in the state experienced severe hot and humid conditions on Friday. While Malkangiri and Hirakud sizzled at 44°C each, they were followed by Sonepur (43.8°C), Bhawanipatna (43.2°C), Jharsuguda (42.7°C), Balangir (42.5°C), Sambalpur (42.4°C) and Titlagarh (42°C). Though Bhubaneswar (37°C) didn’t cross the 40-degree mark, humidity made life hard, a Met official said.
Blast at factory
Bhubaneswar: Three workers were injured in an explosion at the Mahavir Ferro and Alloys factory in Rourkela. The injured have been shifted to the Ispat General Hospital.

Bhubaneswar: Three children suffered burn injuries in their eyes, chest and legs following a fire cracker explosion at Kaniyari village in Ganjam district. The have been admitted to the district hospital.
