World Bank Jumbo attack Nominations Utkal plea Bear kills

Bhubaneswar: The state government on Wednesday sought World Bank assistance for development of higher education infrastructure and skill development and employment generation in handloom and handicraft sectors. The issue was discussed during a meeting of World Bank officers with chief minister Naveen Patnaik. 

Jumbo attack

Bhubaneswar: Two people were killed in elephant attacks in Angul and Dhenkanal districts where the incidence of man-animal conflict is one of the highest in the state. Sources said that while Pradipta Gochhya, 50, of Karadasingh in Angul died on Tuesday night, Hari Behera, 50, of Radhadeipur  in Dhenkanal was killed by an elephant on Wednesday afternoon.

Nominations

Cuttack: Candidates of the Congress, BJD and the BJP on Wednesday filed their nomination for the upcoming bypoll for the post of councillor of ward No. 21, scheduled to be held on June 3. 

Utkal plea

Bhubaneswar: The authorities of the Utkal University have written a letter to the National Informatics Centre, requesting the agency to take charge of the security as well as management of the university’s  website. 

Bear kills

Balasore: A 60-year-old man was attacked by a bear on Wednesday morning and is undergoing treatment. The victim, has been identified as Purnachandra Patra, from Nilgiri.
