Students agitate

Bhubaneswar: A group of engineering students agitated in front of the Laxmisagar police station on Sunday, demanding  action against drug peddlers at the Haldipadia slum. The agitation followed the death of a student on May 6.

Assault

Cuttack: Tension prevailed at Hatigada village in Sadar police limits after members of child welfare committee had gone to prevent the marriage of a minor. The relatives of the girl assaulted the CWC members and newsmen. The injured were admitted to  SCB Medical College.

Hunger strike

Rourkela: All the inmates of the Rourkela Special Jail have called off their hunger strike from Sunday morning. The strike was called off after a new jailor was appointed with immediate effect and the prisoners were assured that a probe would be carried out against the alleged beating of an inmate by a jail employee.
