Cuttack The student of School of Nursing at SCB Medical College and Hospital, who had levelled allegations of casteist remark against the principal of the institute, recorded her statement on Friday before police in Cuttack. Prior to this, the girl was taken for medical examination.
Matric form
Cuttack: The online form fill up for matriculation supplementary examination began on Friday. Students who want to appear in the supplementary examinations this year can fill up their forms online through www.indiaresults.com from Friday till midnight of May 17. The High School Certificate (HSC) supplementary examinations will start from June 2.
Panchayat bill
Bhubaneswar: The state government on Friday tabled the Odisha Panchayat Laws (Amendment Bill), 2016 in the Assembly. Under the new law, around 500 new gram panchayats will be constituted. No confidence motion against gram panchayat members cannot be moved before two-and-a-half years. The reservation of gram panchayats will take place once in five years. Those who will have problems with decisions of gram panchayat can appeal to revenue divisional commissioner.
Suicide abetment
Bhubaneswar: Police arrested Supriya Dash, 50, in connection with the death of a 14-year-old girl working as a domestic help at her house in Balasore. Dash is an employee of the defence unit at Chandipur. The minor, the daughter of a rickshaw puller, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at Dash’s house on April 29. The police began investigation after registering a case and conducted a polygraph test on Dash who was arrested on the charge of abetment. Mental and physical torture inflicted by her led to the suicide of the minor, the police said.
