Vigilance arrest
Sambalpur: Vigilance sleuths arrested Banabasu Seth of Bareipalifor illegally hoarding and dealing with PDS kerosene. The accused had stored the kerosene on the premises of a mill at Ghutukatikra in Gosala along the NH-6 within Burla police limits.
Farmer suicide
Kamakshyanagar: A sharecropper in Dhenkanal’s Kamakshyanagar area died at a hospital on Monday. The deceased, identified as Prafulla Singh of Akhupal village in Kankadahada block, had consumed poison.

Balasore: Vigilance sleuths on Monday arrested a cluster resource centre co-ordinator of Champua block after he was caught taking bribe from a teacher. Buddhadev Mahanta was taking Rs 2,000 from Bhagabat Nayak to settle a bill for the latter.
Surrender
Malkangiri: About 200 sympathisers of the banned CPI(Maoist) on Monday surrendered before the Malkangiri superintendent of police. Over 550 rebel sympathisers have surrendered in the district this month. Police superintendent Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said they will be rehabilitated according to government norms.
Forest day
Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday released a book on the occasion of World Forest Day, highlighting the contributions of the state’s forestry sector and the ecosystem health report card of Chilika lake. He also inaugurated a website on ecotourism. He requested everyone to come forward to protect and conserve forests to combat climate change and meet the requirement of living beings dependent on them.

Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Monday arrested a welfare co-ordinator, working on contractual basis at the office of the district labour officer of Chatrapur in Ganjam for demanding and accepting Rs 6,000 in bribe. The accused, Charan Singh, demanded the money from the complainant Shankar Sahoo to process a file.
