Medic drowns

Paradip: A student of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar was swept away by the sea. Police said the student has been identified as Asil K.C. The incident took place during noon when Asil, 22, and another student were bathing. Local fishermen, however, rescued one of them. 

Strike

Bhubaneswar: The 108-ambulance service employees on Sunday called off their strike following assurances from their employer Ziqitza about fulfilment of their demands. The move came after the state government had implemented the Essential Service Maintenance Act on Saturday, leading to two arrests while several others were detained.

Vigilance raid

Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuth on Sunday raided the house of the inspector of mines, Rourkela Mining Circle, Biswanath Sahu on the allegation of acquisition and possession of disproportionate assets. The sleuths seized assets and cash worth Rs 1.8 crore.

Bus terminus

Sambalpur: Sambalpur Private Bus Owners’ Association has moved the high court over the proposed entry fee at the upcoming bus terminus being developed at Ainthapali, the association president said.
