Vigilance arrest
Sambalpur: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested the project co-ordinator, District Water Sanitation Mission, Bargarh, Sarat Panigrahi for demanding gratification of Rs 7,000 from Radhakanta Sahu of Cherengamunda within Bijepur police station to process a file to release Rs 84,000, the project cost of 7 latrines constructed under the Individual Household Latrine Scheme.
One killed
Berhampur: One moped rider, Debraj Behera, 50, was killed after colliding with a mini bus near Putipadar village on Berhampur-Golabandha Road on Tuesday. Around 13 passengers of the mini bus, including the headmistress of Tarinipentha Project UP School, Premlata Patnaik, and assistant teachers Ashalata and Sujata Tripathy, were injured in the incident.
Criminals held
Paradip: Police on Tuesday arrested four criminals while they were planning a robbery in Paradip Port Township areas. The accused, who are being interrogated, are history sheeters, according to the police. Acting on a tip-off, the four were apprehended from their hideout.
Loot
Keonjhar: Criminals looted Rs 2 lakh from a businessman at Anandpur in Keonjhar. The man had kept the money in the box fitted to his bike and parked it near a market, which was alleged to have been looted by criminals by breaking it open.
Unicef boss
Bhubaneswar: Unicef’s regional director for south Asia, Karin Hulshop on Tuesday met chief minister Naveen Patnaik and discussed different aspects related to health and educational development of SC/ST categories in the state. Hulshop said the state needs to look after its people’s education.
Bodies found
Cuttack: Police on Tuesday recovered the charred body of woman and her two-year-old son from their house at Tinigharia within Madhupatna police limits. The deceased has been identified as Madhuamita Dalai, 32, and her son Rahul. The cops suspect it as a case of suicide over family feud, as the body of the woman did not bear any injury marks.
Two killed
Bhubaneswar: Two women were killed in an accident at Khantapada in Balasore. The accident occurred while they were crossing NH-5. The deceased have been identified as Khairi Singh, 65, and Gurubari Singh, 63, both from Tali village, Panchagarh within Khantapara police limits.

Puri: The District Child Welfare Committee rescued a Class-VI student while she was being married off to an older man. Cops arrested the groom Nirab Chandra of Gujarat.
