Remand extension
Berhampur: Police extended Congress leader and ex-MLA Ramesh Jena’s remand for another seven days on Sunday. Cops had taken Jena on a five-day remand on March 9. They also seized an SUV belonging to Jena from a car service centre in Pahala on the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Road. The Haryana registration document of the bulletproof car was proved to be fake. The police also registered two more cases against Jena. They include the murder of Babu Satpathy, 38, of Nagardiha in Chamakhandi on November 1, 2014. The other case was an attempt to murder Arjun Das of Dalua Sahi in Town police station limits on January 2. Cops also raided the house of Congress leader Saka Sujit in Kukudakhandi in connection with his alleged link with Ramesh Jena. It also raided the Bila Sahi house of Jena on Sunday, said sub-divisional police officer Shantanu Kumar Dash.
Three killed
Bhubaneswar: Three persons were killed in a collision between a car and a truck at Naval Square near Balugaon in Khurda district on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Uma Maheswar Pal, his wife Gitanjali Pal and car driver Santosh Das. The truck driver managed to
escape from the spot.
