One held for rape

Kendrapara: Police on Sunday arrested a 20-year-old man for the rape of an 11-year-old girl here. The accused Anirudha Sahu, who hails from Baradanga village within Mahakalpada police limits, has confessed to the crime and said he committed it under influence of alcohol. Sahu assaulted the victim, a Class-VI student, on Saturday. 

Two killed

Baripada: A 55-year-old man and his son, 12, were killed during a thunderstorm at Udla in Mayurbhanj on Saturday. Around eight persons sustained injuries while several families were rendered homeless.

New halt

Balasore: The Ernakulum-Patna Express will now have a halt at Jaleswar station, the railway ministry announced.
