Tiger census

Bhubaneswar: The forest department began a three-day tiger census across the state from Friday at 27 units of Nilagiri and Soro forest ranges. The department is using pug impression pads to capture pugmarks at different places. 

OJEE 

Bhubaneswar: Online application for Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) commenced on Friday. Students can apply till March 10 on the official website ojee.nic.in to take the entrance test. The OJEE will be held on May 8.

Vigilance raid

Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Friday conducted raids at four places, including the residence of the executive officer of Balugaon Notified Area Council in Khurda. The official, Pramod Kumar Baral, has been accused of accumulating wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. Acting on complaints, the sleuths carried out the raids and seized documents, cash, jewellery and pass books of several bank accounts.

Bail rejected

Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court on Friday rejected the bail petition of Seashore chief Prashant Das’s brother Prabhat and directed the CBI to complete the probe by the end of May. He has been charged with criminal conspiracy and financial misappropriation to the tune of Rs 3 crore. 

Dolphin 

Kendrapara: The carcass of an Irrawaddy dolphin was found near Satabhaya-Ekakula beach in Gahirmatha marine sanctuary on Friday. It has been sent to veterinary surgeons to determine the cause of death. The carcass bore no external injury mark, said officials.
