Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday wrote to  Union minister Nitin Gadkari for the completion of work on the four-lane road connecting Bhubaneswar and Puri (NH-203). The four-lane road was inaugurated in July last year for Nabakalebar. However, recent observations revealed works on the Chandanpur rail bridge and Puri bypass have not resumed after rath yatra, causing traffic jams and public discontentment. 

Raahgiri

Bhubaneswar: A core committee has been formed  to monitor Raahgiri in Bhubaneswar. BMC commissioner Krishan Kumar will head the committee. 

Rape cuffs

Sambalpur: A 32-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl. The accused, Santosh Patra, who is a resident of Puruna Market in  Hirakud, is a neighbour of the victim. 

Molest arrest

Jajpur: A school teacher was arrested on Monday on charges of molesting a student. The accused, Kalindi Charan Behera, allegedly committed the crime on Friday.T

Maoist attack

Koraput: Maoists set ablaze three camps and eight construction vehicles at Pottangi in Koraput district on Monday. The Red rebels have also attacked the labourers while they were asleep set fire to their camps. Before leaving the area, the rebels left posters and banners.

Accident

Jajpur: One woman and her grandson were killed when a speeding truck ran over them at Balichandrapu Chhak in Jajpur district on Monday morning. The deceased have been identified as Basanti Nath, 60, and Pritishree Nath, 13, of Tangi in Cuttack district.
