Money crunch

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday reviewed the state’s cash crunch scenario due to demonetisation. In a video-conference with district collectors of Ganjam, Cuttack, Sambalpur and Balangir, Naveen was apprised of the problems faced by farmers due to demonetisation. He directed the officials to ensure that farmers did not face inconvenience during online cash transfer and purchase of seeds, fertiliser etc.   

US delegates 

Bhubaneswar: A delegation from Chicago University's business school on Tuesday visited Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to discuss development of a model for waste management in the city. The 12-member team including, business school professors Caroline Grossman and Sanjeev Vir, interacted with Bhubaneswar mayor Anant Narayan Jena and civic commissioner Krishan Kumar in two separate meetings on the development of a business model for waste management. 

Sarathi Baba

Bhubaneswar: Arrested self-proclaimed  spiritual leader Sarathi Baba filed a bail petition in Supreme Court on Tuesday. Sarathi moved the apex court seeking bail in two cases registered against him by the state Crime Branch in August last year. Orissa High Court had rejected the bail pleas of Sarathi Baba last month. 

Acid attack

Bhubaneswar: A husband threw acid at his wife at Hindol in Dhenakal on Tuesday evening and fled from the spot. No police case has been registered.
