Koraput: With at least 66 out of the 200 blood samples of cows sent for laboratory tests testing positive for Brucellosis (Malta fever), the Koraput administration has taken steps to prevent spread of the disease in the district.

BPCL deal
Bhubaneswar: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding with a Bargarh-based company on technology transfer for setting up of 2G Biomass Ethanol Bio-refinery at Bargarh. The MoU was signed between BPCL and Praj Industries Ltd during Petrotech-2016 in New Delhi.

Angul: Police on Wednesday arrested 150 villagers of Rakas at Talcher for preventing tree-felling work of the Rakas Bahal reserve forest that has been acquired by coal producer Mahanadi Coalfield Limited (MCL). According to MCL sources, the forest area of about 20 acre was duly acquired with stage two clearance.
Woman raped
Dhenkanal: A woman, who was allegedly raped, thrashed and dumped by her lover on Monday, was rescued in a critical condition from a forest near Dhenkanal bypass road on Wednesday. According to the woman, her lover called her to the forest near Dhenkanal College bypass road on Monday evening and then raped and thrashed her severely and fled the spot. Unable to move, she was lying inside the forest since Monday.
Robbers held
Bhubaneswar: Police on Wednesday arrested three looters, including kingpin Artatrana Bhoi, in connection with a loot incident, where a scribe of a local news channel was robbed of his valuables, including a bike and a mobile phone, at gunpoint at Hansupal on Saturday evening. The police also seized four stolen bikes from their possession.
Custody death
Cuttack: An elderly man died in police custody in Cuttack late on Tuesday night after allegedly being tortured by cops. The deceased has been identified as Gunanidhi Nayak, 60, of Manijanga village.

Puri: Forest officials on Tuesday rescued a bullet-ridden rare woolly-necked stork also known as white-necked stork in a critical condition.
