Hospital fire
Sambalpur: A fire broke out at the Central Hospital of the Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) at Mandlia in Jharsuguda district on Sunday. However, no casualties have been reported. The fire broke out due to a short circuit in the air conditioner of the X-Ray room of the hospital. The staff of the hospital first noticed the smoke and informed the higher officials. A fire tender was rushed and it took around one hour for the team to douse the fire.

Berhampur: Cops have arrested four nationals from the Philippines from a ship, 5km off the coast in Gopalpur port while they were talking in a satellite phone with United Arab Emirates SIM card to a number in Afghanistan on Sunday. “They are identified as Bsutista Jesceltone, Eduarfos Gruspe, Librafo Jemina and Nathaniel Fajs. We seized one satellite phone from their possession and their passports,” said the inspector of Chamakhandi police station, Ashok Parida.
20 injured
Bhubaneswar: Twenty persons were injured in an accident at Phulmuthi Chhak under Binika block of Sonepur district on Sunday. According to sources, the bus was on its way from Sonepur to Sambalpur, while it overturned. The injured have been admitted to Binika Hospital.
Woman drowns
Puri: A woman tourist drowned at Chandrabhaga near Konark in Puri district on Sunday. A male tourist who was also on the verge of drowning was rescued in a critical state. According to reports, the mishap occurred when eight tourists from Bangalore were taking bath at Chandrabhaga beach.
Lankan dead
Bhubaneswar: A Sri Lankan Navy employee has been found dead inside a cargo vessel off the Odisha coast on Sunday. According to reports, the deceased has been identified as Priyantha De Silva.
