Assault accused
Baripada: Badampahad police in Mayurbhanj have launched a manhunt to nab nine persons who were allegedly involved in the gang-raped of a Plus Two student last week. The 19-year-old student said that she was coming home after watching an opera when the nine persons allegedly gang-raped her near the railway station.
Youth saved
Berhampur: A youth from Uttar Pradesh was saved by lifeguards at Gopalpur beach on Sunday morning. Seven youths had gone to the beach for a bath when Situ Kumar was dragged away by the strong sea current. The lifeguards saved him on time.
Rains retreat
Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon has withdrawn from the state, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said here on Sunday. Regional IMD director Sarat Chandra Sahu said the monsoon had withdrawn from the state. There would be no significant change in the temperature in coastal areas, he said.
