Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday suspended the vice-president of the party's Jagatsinghpur district unit, Aswini Das, a close aide of BJD Rajya Sabha member and Jagatsinghpur district unit president Bishnu Charan Das, for his alleged anti-party activities. The action was taken in the wake of excise minister Damodar Rout's meeting on Mahanadi at Kujanga. Das on Wednesday criticised Rout's meeting and said it had no approval of the party president. Police also arrested a person who had hurled eggs at Rout's meeting on Wednesday.

Dhenkanal: A gram panchayat secretary was beaten to death by a mob in Dhenkanal district on Wednesday. According to reports, secretary of Rasol Aanlabeda gram panchayat Nirakar Behera was all of a sudden attacked by a mob in the village.
Boar killed
Kendrapara: Angry people allegedly hacked a rogue wild boar to death after it let loose a reign of terror by attacking residents at Kajalapatia and Batighar villages in Kendrapara district. The carcass of boar was recovered from the village on Tuesday. The carcass of the boar has been sent for post mortem.

Bhubaneswar: Chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi on Wednesday asked officials to make the ensuing Start-Up conclave here focused and outcome-oriented. During a review of the preparation for the two-day conclave scheduled from November 28, he advised the officials to encourage more budding entrepreneurs from the state from various sectors.
Royal suicides
Cuttack: Orissa High Court on Wednesday extended till November 9 the interim protection against arrest granted by it to Parlakhemundi MLA K. Surya Rao alleged to be involved in the cases of suicide by Parla estate manager Anangamanjari Patra and her siblings. The court had earlier granted the interim protection to Rao on September 7.
